For starters, we flew down to McKinney, Texas to visit the family and spend 4th of July. It was much easier flying with a healthy baby and another adult to tag team with me. We did although, still run into a nazi flight attendant. This time, I was not the victim. Our flight there could have been perfect. She was fed, happy, changed, perfect time of day, the stars aligned for an easy no crying trip. Then, our plane was delayed for an hour due to mechanical issues. After that, our plane was delayed even longer due to a storm that blew in. So, by the time we arrived in Texas, a few hours later than originally anticipated, Quinn was over it. We landed and spent at least 30 minutes to taxi to our gate. Quinn is a mover and shaker, doesn't have time for that. So, the crying begins. The plane is not moving and Kyle decides to stand up with her and bounce. For everyones sake. Thirty seconds later she gets on the horn and says "please remain seated until we are to the gate." As if a screaming baby in an airplane doesn't call enough attention to you, lets call you out a little more. I'm not bitter..... I would be the worst flight attendant ever because everyone would be getting away with everything, unless they were chewing loudly, taking their smelly shoes off, or hogging the arm rests when they aren't in the middle seat. Then they are asking for it.
Our time in Texas was really nice. It was low key, spend time with the family and see what comes kind of vacation. Which is just my speed these days. Some of the highlights that stick out to me from the trip are:
- Seeing the family and Quinn interact. This was the first time most of them had met her, so that was really fun. She loved it and everyone was so loving and great with her. Kyles dad 'Pops', is a baby whisper and had that Moby wrap on and was singing to her and she just melted into his arms. Kyle and his mom 'Lovey', were dancing outside to 'Spirit in the Sky' and she was cracking up and loving every second of it. Those are a few of my favorite videos to date.
- Shopping with Becca. Just us two, no babies, no kiddos. I was able to try things on without distraction and just chat- it was great.
- Spending quality time with the kids. We played games, chatted, and hung out. I love that I felt like I really got to know each one of them individually. Mary went on a walk with us one night and I love that she says Julianne is her best friend. Or that her favorite food is not pizza like everyone else's, but fruit. Or that Julianne is so artistic and a prankster. She put on a show for the family and it reminded me so much of being about that age and having a Spice Girls birthday party and spending all night perfecting our moves and outfits. Taylor loves babies, boots, and birthdays. He turned 4 while we were there and he is so fun. I love that four year olds have no filter and just say what is on their minds. He is going to make an amazing husband one day and will have his two older sisters to thank for that!
- Riding the scooter! Kyle and I rode that thing to downtown McKinney and had a few drinks and walked around.
- The historic homes and downtown. It felt so Texan and charming. I love homes with character and there are lots of them there.
- I also saw my first ever firefly, now I can cross that off my bucket list.

Okay I guess I decided I am going to break up the trip into separate blogs after all. Things will get too crazy over here if I don't! One down, few more to go..
