Aspen, Colorado

"I'm talkin' about a place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking' about a little place called Aspen."
"Oh, I dunno, Lloyd, the French are assholes."

Kyle and I probably looked something similar to this after singing the same bad made up songs from Quinn's favorite talking dog on the drive over and back. :)

Since we had so much time left of leave when we returned from Texas, we decided to take a trip to somewhere in Colorado. We have been trying to explore more around the state for a few reasons. One, its beautiful and we love it here. Two, we are trying to get an idea of where in Colorado we would want to settle down once we are out of the military. And, three, we love exploring and adventures. Neither of us had ever been to Aspen, it was a reasonable distance (4 hours ) away, so we decided to go. It was a relaxing and nice quick getaway. During our stay, we booked a jeeping adventure tour. We were excited to get outside and do something different. I was a tad bit nervous going into it how Quinn would be, mostly because there were a lot of unknowns. Who would be the next group of five male strangers that I get to  feed my daughter in front of? Will Quinn have a melt down and hate it? Is it safe or will we jeep right off a cliff? These were the sort of things that were running through my head. Luckily, we were the only ones on the tour, we didn't jeep off a cliff, and Quinn loved it. They had given us the okay to take our four month old daughter on the trip ahead of time, just advised us to bring her carseat along. So, we meet the guide, who is older and a male. Lets just say he isn't screaming I'm knowledgeable with carseat installation.... We hand him over the base and he starts putting it where he claims is the safest and he's done this a million times, blah blah blah. Next thing I know, I'm looking at a car seat installed that looks like it will literally shot put my daughter right out, just by sitting in it with the jeep parked. I'm sure I said something remotely condescending as I'm considering just bagging the entire thing or wearing her on me while Kyle took the carseat and fixed it to where we felt comfortable. She was safe, warm, and enjoying the trip sleeping away.

After the jeep tour, we went up to the top of Snowmass on the gondola and had the most amazing salad bar I have ever had. What a random surprise. We walked around the villages and shopped, ate great food, and hung out. Kyle took Quinn for a little bit while I took a nap one day and came back with surprises. Sweetest husband ever!
Quinn hanging out in the hotel. Just cute as could be!

On the way home, we stopped off at this trailhead we saw on the way over near Independence Pass. There was a nice little hike to a reservoir with more breathtaking views.
Who doesn't love a hipster mountain man with a beard and a baby?!? This girl does!

The scariest and prettiest pass I have ever driven over.

Now, one thing that I can't stand about Facebook, or people in general... is when they only portray the great things about their lives. I mean seriously, who are they kidding?? So, I have to keep it real here too.
Four hours there, four hours back, a baby who doesn't like the car, a momma who gets carsick easily.... you do the math. We survived and it was all worth it-making memories! xoxoxoxo
