Everyone knows I am a NW girl. I was raised clam digging, swimming all summer long at the cabin, and hiking. Kyle is a Texan through and through. When I met him he drove a big truck with at least 3 Texas identifiers on it 😳 He has still never been clam digging and didn't really hike much before me. I never in a million years would have thought I would have married a Southerner, and vice versa for him.
There have been some things I have learned and really appreciate.
1. The love of EVERYTHING monogrammed! There is no end to what can be monogrammed. Embroidered monogramming is even better. I honestly was oblivious to this before meeting Kyle. I didn't even know the order for initials is first name, last name, middle name. That doesn't even make sense to me, but oh well. We have cups, doomat, clothes, bins, blankets, wooden boxes. The options are endless really. And I LOVE it! This will definitely be something I continue. Our children's children will be monogramming :-)
Kyles sweet Godmother sent these to Quinn for Easter- adorable!
2. Sussies. Now, I'm not really sure if this is a southern thing, or a Masters family thing. But, it's a word that I think means gifts basically. Often thoughtful and cute and maybe more for no particular reason? Like the two Easter presents pictured above could be called sussies.
I think we may need to have a guest blogger to better explain that one. 😉
3. Traditional and old school. Men still open doors for women. Kyles grandpa insists he takes his hat off when he is inside. People wave and say hello and are friendly even if you don't know them.
4. Quinn is addressed as Miss Quinn when she gets packages or mail. I love it and think it's so cute and I often call her that. It definitely has a very Southern ring to it.
5. Of course the y'all. Which I have let slip more than a few times now and I think I get a free card to use it since I am married to a Texan. It's easier then saying 'you guys' and rolls off the tongue.
Let's see what else I come back doing after the summer!
