Okay okay, I know I haven't been very good about keeping up with my blog lately... so sue me!! I've been too busy eating bon bons and watching Ellen during the day for this sort of thing.
A few housekeeping items: Kyle was supposed to leave for the month for training and it ended up getting cancelled at the last minute, military style. We of course were not complaining. I am still loving my job and working about two days a week which has been a good work/life balance for right now. Quinn is still loving her full time job of being cute and torturing Ruprick. Kyles birthday party ended up being a success. We had it at the Country Club in town here with a group of friends. I have never eaten at a nice buffet and come home wanting a hot pocket so bad in my life! Quinn was particularly busy that night, so between that and the mingling, there was definitely something left to be desired. But, a great time was had and we are very thankful for all of our friends that made it out. Newborn babies and all.
Above are two great girlfriends, Maggie and Kristen. Both of their husbands work with Kyle in the clinic and we all had babies within a few months of one another, very fun to experience it all with them.
My friend Jamie and her daughter Keely, who I met by fate on the airplane flying up to Seattle. I could go on and on about the crazy things we have in common and how random it is we met by chance, but so thankful we did!
I'm laughing because I put sparklers on the cake and Kyle couldn't blow them out. He was convinced I used trick candles... who does he think I am? Well, the joke was on him, he needs to work on his air bags I guess. And apparently I need to work on my practical jokes if he thinks that would be one of them. :)

The three of us on the deck. Successful and fun night!
Kyle and I make a habit of having a date day about every two weeks or so, which has been very fun for us to feel like we still have a life outside of our baby. One of my coworkers mentioned this winery had just recently opened in a cute little nearby town. We went to check it out and loved it. It's called Catriona Cellars, for any locals who read this. Yummy wine and food, beautiful little space. I guess you can rent out the cellar for parties as well. Maybe next years birthday option.
My friend Shannon recently visited us from Seattle. She was supposed to visit when Kyle was going to be gone for work, but since he ended up not going, we all were able to enjoy her visit. I wouldn't say I am one to have a ton of friends, but the ones I do have are great lifetime friends like her. We all went to Oktoberfest on Saturday, girls night out Saturday night, and Sunday was BBQ and yard work day. I know...we really know how to show someone a good time around here! There are a few noteworthy points about our adventures. First of all, the Colorado Springs Oktoberfest was probably the smallest one I have ever seen in my life! Which is fine, we still ate German food, drank beer and walked around. Until that is, they decided mid-day that the port-o-potties had to be emptied RIGHT now. Seriously people, there are like less than a hundred people here and we counted about 10 p.o.p's. You do the math. So instead of continuing to enjoy the old men in weird outfits with their strange dance moves, they single handedly in the matter of minutes cleared us and probably half of the crowd out of the joint. They really know how to party... Waste Management must have been wanting to get out of town and had one last stop before they left.
Girls night was so much fun! It was the first time I had been out since having Quinn. We had so many great belly laughs and funny memories. I learned that this mama still has it... hula hooping. I also learned that its not the best idea to stay up until 2 am when you have an automatic alarm clock at 530 am. I'll be paying for that and trying to catch up for the next month now.
Quinn loves Shannon! The first day she looked at her for a long time and then it was BFF's after that!
Starting to sound like we just get down over here. Don't be fooled, the normal 6 plus diaper changes, two loads of dishes and walk around the same loop in the neighborhood doesn't cut it for the blog.
Coming up next: A million cute pictures of Quinn with a full update and a crafty blog, to show you how I really get down around here!
